Erasing a Digit in a Calculator

Using a Calculator might be difficult for some, as making a mistake and not knowing this feature. But in actuality, you can delete the last number you have entered by swiping left or right on your screen. Now you don’t need to start over with a long set of calculations in a maddening spiral of frustration. 

Set up Focus Modes

Focus Modes feature is the Apple version of “I am busy”, or “I can’t talk to your right” messages. This feature allows you to set up sets of settings that are applicable for a certain scenario. Such as blocking notifications from your apps and emails, allowing only certain urgent messages to alert you, even creating a custom preset for home screens that show the app right for the particular situation. 

You find the Focus Modes in Settings and then Focus. You will also find pre-existing presets, like Do not disturb, or Personal work. Select either or follow instructions on how to craft your own preset to your liking.

Camera Controls 

If you are holding your iPhone sideways, then swipe up on the Shooting Mode row. And if holding it straight up, then swipe left. This will show up the new set of controls and will show additional new controls depending on which Shooting Mode you are in.

Change your default Browser and Email Apps

This is good news if you are a Google or Gmail user and still want you use iPhone. Now you can change your default browser and Email app settings and download Chrome and other browsers from the Apple App Store. Likewise, you can also download Gmail or Spark and set them as default, over Mail. To enable this feature, go to your Settings and find your third party Email App, then select Default Email App and now select your personal Email App.

Pin and Shared Content in Messages

If you have a group of friends that you want to share something with, like news about a TV show or particular song. You can now directly Pin and share any content in the messages. All you need to do is give that file a long press and then select the Pin option to share it on top of your conversation list. 

Notification Schedules

This feature allows you to set App of your choosing to deliver their notification at a certain in the day or on a certain day. This helps with the constant Notification bugging that many Apps do and of course, this is completely customizable to your preferences. To enable this, go to Settings and then Notifications and then Schedule Summary and enable it. Now you can proceed to add as many Apps you want and set a time you want to see the countless Notification at the same time. 

Tapping the back for a Screenshot 

Another recent small but amazing feature is to be able to take screenshots by tapping the back of your iPhone. To enable this, go to your Accessibility Settings, select Touch, and then the Back Tap option. Furthermore, it gives you the option to take a screenshot by giving it a Double-Tap or a Triple-Tab on the back of your iPhone.

Placing Widgets on your home screen

The iOS has introduced many new features towards Accessibility. One of them is allowing you to Add Widgets on your home screen. For quick access to this setting, just give a long press anywhere on your home screen. This makes the Plus Icon on the top corner of your screen visible, just give it a touch and select any Widget App you want to add. This option also allows you to select the placement and size of the Widget.

Fake eye contact during Facetime

Want your friends, family member, or even your boss and peers to think that you are paying them your undivided attention in a video call? Then this cool feature is just for you. Go to Settings, then FaceTime, and enable Eye Contact. This will make it appear like you are staring deep into their soul, while not even looking at their face. Neet, ain't it? 

FaceTiming Android and Windows users

This new feature introduced in iOS 15, lets you FaceTime anyone, regardless of their OS. This obviously includes Android and Windows users as well. This is done by starting FaceTime on your phone and creating a link, which you can then share with your friends and family. Although it allows FaceTime across multiple platforms, you still need to be an iOS or Mac user to start a FaceTime.

Stopping newly downloaded Apps from appearing on your Home Screen

This feature allows you to enable the option to send any new apps you download, straight to the App Libary. Rather than them clogging your home screen. To find this option, go to your Settings and then Home Screen, and then select App Libary Only option under Newly Downloaded Apps.

Burst photo button

This is an interesting feature, where you can take a set of Burst Photos you the Volume Up button on the side. To enable this option, go to your Settings, then Camera and enable Use Volume Up for Burst. This now lets you to your Volume Up button to take Burst Photos, while using the camera. 

Scanning a document using your Camera

Bet you didn’t know this, you can use your camera to scan the very document in front of you. Open the Camera and then select the Scan Document option. Now all you have to do is line up the aline the paper in front of your camera and it will scan automatically for you. 

Use Live Text with Camera

This is indeed a mind-blowing feature of iOS 15, as it allows you to snap pictures of a small block of text. Say an ingredient list on the back of a product, which will then show a Three Lines Icon on the lower-left corner of the screen. Allowing you to interact with the text, copy it, and share it with whomever you want to with.
