Coke Studio – A taste of Pakistani music

With Coke Studio season 14 just starting on 14 January, it had released its first track three weeks ago, “Tu Jhoom”. It was a spine-chilling performance by the duo of Naseebo Lal and Abida Parveen, existing legends in the Pakistan music industry. The music video had a hypnotic feel to it. With lyrics and instrumental soothing your mind and the lighting, the set-piece and the performance by the dancer on the side, taking your breath away. Making it a complete Pakistani music experience.

For those who are unknown. Coke Studio is a Pakistani television program and an international music franchise that started in 2008. Since then it has produced 14 seasons of studio-recorded masterpieces. Bringing together many musical influences, such as Classical, Folk, Sufi, Qawwali, Ghazal, and Bhangra, and as well as towards modern influence like Hip-Hop, Rock, and Pop music.

It is the longest-running annual program of its kind and has brought together many artists from different regions and languages to collaborate on creating the best sounding experience. And a side note, yes The Coca-Cola Company has been in partnership with Coke Studio since the beginning.

There is no argument, against the fact that music transcends culture and language. Of course, if it sounds good, people will listen to it. It is also evident by the social media presence of Coke Studio, whenever they release a promotional or seek-peek at the upcoming season.

This has and will continue to create this hype among the 107 million followers on Facebook and 576 thousand followers on Twitter. This has also brought recognition to the many musicians and artists from Pakistan.

With Coke studio becoming an international sensation, has been followed by Nescafe Basement, Kashmir Beats, and Bisconni Music. All these programs have contributed towards highlighting and giving recognition to singers and musicians of Pakistan.

As I and millions of others, who have been listening to Coke Studio for some time are well aware of the magic they bring onto the stage. Furthermore, Coke Studio has couraged aspiring future artists, writers, producers, and musicians to come to the forefront to bring out the hidden talent of Pakistan.

There is no denying that Coke Studio has become the face of the Pakistani music industry, with the help of its producer. Rohail Hyatt, who has been responsible for 8 seasons, including the recent season of Coke Studio. However, now stepping down from his position and is replaced by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan is also known as Xulfi. As per his welcoming, we wish him and his team all team for the upcoming year.
