Signing in to the New World with the 6G [Sixth Generation of the internet]

With an ever-moving world of technological advancement, a new step has been taken towards a brighter future. With 6G or the sixth Generation of the network.

With an ever-moving world of technological advancement, a new step has been taken towards a brighter future. With 5G internet service greeting us in July 2015, the world has moved now to developing a greater and faster form of a network called 6G or the sixth Generation of the network. Even though the 5G network hasn’t fully been completed, progress and development have started towards the 6G cellular network.

6G is expected to become available around 2030, with India, China, Japan, and Singapore showing interest in the development of 6G. With efforts from Scientists at Nanyang Technology Unversity and Osaka Unversity, from Singapour and Japan respectfully.

Announced the completed development of a chip for Terahertz (THz) wave which will be used in the transmission of 6G. Furthermore, China has successfully launched a test satellite on November 6, 2020, to verify the use of terahertz communication technology in space, according to Global Times

The benefits of using 6G Cellular Network

It’s hard to say how 6G would function or how much it will cost since it isn’t available. Many cellular companies like AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile, Microsoft, and others have drawn up a “G Alliance”, advancing towards the development of 6G and beyond. So let’s talk about what we do know and the future benefits of using the 6G Cellular Network.

Next level speed

One of the greatest benefits of 6G would be the speed, which is higher than 5G and 4G combines. With Federal Communication Commission (FCC) opened gates to the project with focused experimenting on the “TerahertZ wave”, falling 95GHz to 3THz wavelength, all way back in 2019.

The only concern is that 5G on Millimeter wavebands distributes data ultra-fast while having a shorter range, leading from that 6G has an even smaller range but even faster. Hence requiring further development and research.

Bringing about advancement in other fields

At the time of 5G beginning, there was much discussion towards the potential advancement in Artificial Intelligence. This involved use of AI in automatic cars, factories, drones, and any further uses, which can become reality with the integration of 6G. Such as leading towards advancements in wireless technology, allowing self-driving cars to make use of Collaborative AI with integrated 6G. This will allow them to communicate with other self-driving cars, navigate through streets and traffic, and determine the most efficient route.

5G plays important role in providing ultra-low latency and high bandwidth, becoming an essential part of better functioning VR/AR. On the other hand, 6G could even enhance it even further into more immersive technologies. The leading person for the white paper in 2019 on the 6G and the member of Virginia Tech, Walid Saad. Predicted future tech to advance further into smart wearables, headsets, and implants which would take direct responses from human sensory inputs.

Implications for the Government

With increased speeds of data transfer, Government can take better care of the public. While improving towards public safety and protection of assets. Threat detection can be massively improved and be monitored while it’s being resolved. Great improvement in security with facial recognition and other features, like security camera system.

Environment monitoring will help to keep an eye out for unfair uses, gas and toxicity levels, and administrating carbon footprints. The public health care system could also be improved with remote surgeries and overall better infrastructure. Furthermore, introducing 6G to the public will allow faster mobile internet speed and would also improve public transportation.

Conclusion

Recently there have been many follow-up articles around 6G and coming of a new age. But before you go into deep and have high expectations. You should understand that 6G and Its potential uses are still just on paper and yet to realize. Though there is a high interest in the development of 6G by many countries and governments from all around the world.
